Privacy Policy

This page explains what Postminer currently receives and uses when you use the service.

Last updated: 9 August 2026

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to Postminer.com.ng and its postcode lookup pages, map features, APIs, feedback tools, and related public pages. It describes current product behavior. It is not legal advice.

2. Information the service can receive

Location and lookup information

If you use GPS or the map, your browser can send latitude and longitude to Postminer so the server can identify the relevant delivery area and postcode. A lookup can also include the selected State, Local Government Area, area, search text, lookup method, result postcode, and the location evidence used to resolve it.

Technical and reliability information

Lookup records can include the browser's reported location-accuracy estimate, browser-reported connection estimates, device and browser details, a client IP address used for rate limiting and session operations, timestamps, and anonymous journey identifiers. Protected failure records reduce coordinates to a geographic cell rather than storing exact coordinates in ordinary regression fixtures.

Browser storage

The browser may store recent lookup history and consent choices on your device. You can clear this storage from your browser settings or use the clear-history control where it is shown.

Feedback and contact information

If you send feedback, report an issue, or contact Postminer, the message and the page and lookup context needed to investigate it may be received. Do not include passwords, payment details, or an exact home address in a message unless it is necessary for the support request.

3. Why we use this information

  • To resolve and display a Nigerian postcode for the area you selected or detected.
  • To protect the service from abusive request volume and keep lookup sessions working.
  • To measure lookup reliability, investigate failures, and improve the product.
  • To record copies, helpful feedback, issue reports, and other product interactions.
  • To answer support messages and maintain the website.

4. Providers and service infrastructure

Depending on the lookup path, Postminer can use Google location services and Nominatim as supporting address evidence. Postminer remains responsible for the postcode decision shown by the product; a provider label or provider postcode is not automatically treated as the final answer.

The website also uses hosting, CDN, database, caching, email, analytics, and monitoring services where needed to operate the product. These services process information only as required for their role and configuration.

5. Analytics and advertising readiness

Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Microsoft Clarity are configured to run only on the verified production host. They are not loaded by the local or staging environments. Some operational analytics are currently retained indefinitely for reliability analysis, as disclosed in the product's analytics consent message.

Postminer also uses first-party, anonymous visit identifiers to count total visits, postcode journeys started, and successful postcode journeys in aggregate reports. The database stores one-way hashes of these identifiers rather than the raw cookie values. A visit identifier expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, and the visitor identifier expires after one year.

Postminer is preparing for Journey by Mediavine. No Journey ad script is active on this version unless it is explicitly enabled in the production environment. If advertising is enabled, this policy will be updated with the required advertising and consent language before activation.

6. Retention and your choices

Different records have different lifetimes. Provider cache entries expire according to their service configuration. Operational lookup and reliability records can be retained for ongoing product analysis. We do not use a browser location permission as a requirement for manual lookup: you can choose a State, Local Government Area, and area instead.

You can decline the analytics consent prompt where it is shown, clear browser storage, refuse location permission, and contact us about a privacy request. A request may need enough information for us to identify the relevant record without asking you to send sensitive information.

7. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, email team@postminer.com.ng. We may update this policy when the product, providers, or advertising configuration changes.
